Welcome to my journey to "dig-up" my Ancestors. I hope to be posting information here as my "digging" produces more "bones". I am currently researching my "TOWNSEND" and "BUCHANAN" families.
I am following James Edward Townsend who was born in McCurtain Co., OK in 1890 and died in 1958 in Hardeman Co., TX. His father, John Albert Walter Townsend was born in 1859 in Tate Co., MS and died 1942 in McCurtain Co., OK. John Albert Walter commonly went by the name "Walter" for most of his adult life. Walter married Annie Jackson in Coldwater, MS on 2 Mar 1881. I am having some trouble finding Annie's father. Their wedding announcement in the local newspaper stated that the couple were married at "Mrs. Jackson's home". This seems to imply to me that Annie's mother may have been widowed at the time of Annie's marriage to Walter.
In 1912, James Edward Townsend married Ethel Buchannan who was born in 1892 in Little River Co., AR and passed in Hardeman Co., TX in 1982. Ethel's father was Robert Jason Buchanan, lovingly known as "Uncle Bob" by the community. Robert Jason Buchanan was born in 1847 in Chickasaw Co., MS and died in 1914 in McCurtain Co., OK. Robert was married to Mary Elizabeth Cloud 29 JUL 1867 in Clark Co., AR. Mary Elizabeth was born in 1851 in Logan Co., KY and died 1926 in McCurtain Co., OK.
